About this game
Gameplay
Press and hold. Feel the pull. Let the music grow.
Dwell is a meditative particle game built around a simple gesture. Press and hold anywhere on screen to open a gravity well. Particles drift into orbit around your finger. Somewhere in the field, a hidden black hole is waiting move your finger to find it, and watch as it slowly consumes everything you’ve gathered.
Each particle that falls in sings. A tone blooms. The space around you opens. The more the black hole consumes, the richer the sound becomes voices layering into chords, reverb swelling from intimate to cathedral, a living harmonic structure that grows with your progress.
Clear the field and a final resolution plays. Then the next field begins.
HOLD TO PLAY
There are no taps. No swipes. No buttons. One finger, pressed and held, is the entire input model. Release early and the round ends particles scatter, the sound dissolves. The only constraint is letting go.
SOUND IS THE GAME
Every orbiting particle has its own continuous voice, panned across the stereo field as it moves. Every consumption is a tone. Every round builds toward a resolving chord that bridges into the next field.
The audio is tuned in just intonation pure mathematical ratios, not equal temperament so every possible combination of captured particles sounds consonant. The system is structurally incapable of sounding bad. As you play, you’re composing without trying to.
A BLACK HOLE THAT GROWS
The black hole starts invisible. As it consumes particles, its accretion disc appears and expands. Its gravity strengthens. What began as a quiet anomaly becomes an unmistakable presence at the center of the field visually and sonically.
ADAPTIVE DEPTH
Dwell reads your performance and adjusts. Early rounds are pure and simple circular orbits, a handful of particles, nothing hidden. As you improve, the game opens up:
· Orbits become elliptical particles speed up at their closest approach and slow at their farthest, following Kepler’s laws
· Outer shells fade, making distant particles harder to track
· The black hole ejects captured particles that drift too close strategic well placement becomes essential
· Consuming particles in dissonant musical intervals briefly weakens your gravity well
· Particles not yet captured pull on each other, bending their paths toward the well
Each layer adds something new to think about without adding anything to look at. The screen stays clean. The complexity lives in the physics.
DESIGNED FOR CALM
No timers counting down. No lives. No ads. No notifications. No energy system.
Dwell is designed for the few minutes between things a commute, a break, the quiet before sleep. The ambient drone underneath every field primes your ear for the key before the first particle is captured. The reverb tail of a cleared field carries into the next one. The transitions are seamless. There is no jarring return to a menu.
You hold. The world orbits. The black hole feeds. The sound resolves.
Play Dwell with headphones. It’s worth it.
